What To Wear Wednesday: Old Navy for Families

One of the trickiest photo sessions to dress for is a family session.  I always recommend that families try to coordinate, without matching.  That can be easier said than done, and adding more people to the mix just increases the difficulty.  Combine that with the fact that kids grow like weeds and are constantly needing new clothes, and outfitting a family in coordinating outfits can seem like more hassle than its worth.

That's why we're here to help : )

Now, if you have money to burn on expensive outfits, this might not be much of an issue for you.  However, if you are like most people, the economy and its effect on your budget is a concern.  Never fear, there are tons of great options out there.  When looking for coordinating outfits, I recommend starting with what you already have, and filling in whatever holes you find in your collective family wardrobe.  Check out department store clearance, the internet, discount stores, consignment and secondhand stores, or even garage sales.  Especially when considering kids clothing, DO NOT pay more then you have to.  They will quickly grow out of their outfits, so keep that in mind when choosing how much to invest.

This week we are highlighting clothing options from Old Navy, Gap's budget-friendly sister store.  They are a terrific option when searching for coordinating outfits, as they carry a lot of similar colors throughout their lines for men, women, and children.  They also carry a wide variety of sizes, which is helpful when you are trying to clothe many people.  Additionally, they have a great selection online and often offer free shipping with a certain amount of purchase.

Photographable clothing tip of the week:  Keep writing on clothing to a minimum.  Fabric often bends and folds with movement, which can hide certain letters or entire words.  Additionally, words can destract from the overall feeling of the photos.

Great tips!! There's nothing worse than a family picture with identical white turtlenecks and dark jeans. Ew.
