An Engagement In Wonderland * Menomonie Engagement Photographer

When we moved to western Wisconsin, we knew very little about the place.  We never got a chance to visit before I accepted my offer to my graduate program (we were overseas), and just prayed God would give us grace to endure whatever we needed to endure.

But oh. my. word.  It is gorgeous here!!!

Don't get me wrong- southern MN will always be home, and it is the most beautiful place in the world to me- seriously.

But western Wisconsin is like home with cliffs and hills and more woods thrown in.  It was BREATHTAKING during the fall, but I was too wrapped up in school and shoots to take the time to photograph it (I'm sure it will beautiful this year, too).  We found a place we liked to hike, and when we went hiking with my brother after a HUGE blizzard, we were greeted by the most amazing frozen waterfall I have ever seen.  Well, it was the only frozen waterfall I have ever seen, but it was definitely still amazing!

I had known before I saw it that I wanted to bring Mike and Laurie there for their engagement session.  I thought we would just be in the canyon, this peaceful, restful, glorious place where I can see God's fingerprints everywhere I turn.

But this?  It was almost more than I could handle!

Mike and Laurie are already adorable and outgoing and (obviously) photogenic.  I know Laurie from school, and her petite physical size is deceiving- this girl has a larger-than-life personality.  She is also kind-hearted, compassionate, and brilliant.  And, of course, beautiful.  It's easy to see why Mike loves her!  I didn't meet him until the day of our session, and I had no idea what he would be like.  Imagine my surprise at finding out he is just as extroverted as Laurie!  So, needless to say, our shoot was more than a litte fun!

Also, the blog makeover is inspiring a bunch of fun new changes.  We're starting something new with engagements- if the couple gets 25 comments on their blog post in 25 hours, they will recieve a FREE 11x14 print from 1000 Words Photography by Nicole Wilke.  So show Mike and Laurie some love, and post a comment below!

Okay, enough rambling from me- let's get to the pictures!  But, there are so many that I L-O-V-E, that I will have to put up two different  posts.  Check back tomorrow for the rest.

Blog Makeover!

As you can see, we've gotten a new look!  We love it, and hope you love it, too!  All design was done by Tara over at Princess in Pigtails Design, and she was a joy to work with.  I would definitely recommend her if you are looking for a blog facelift.  Literally less than a week from the time I started talking to her to the blog makeover being done!  And we just couldn't be more excited about the results!

Take a look around and stay awhile.  We've got some new features, like the easy-to-use menu underneath the flash player.  Some of the pages are in progress because I just haven't gotten around to them yet, but they are in progress.  One brand new feature is our resources page, which includes links to resources for DIY weddings.  I love crafts, so I thought I would incorporate that here as a handy tool for craft lovers and those looking to save a buck alike.  Besides, it gives me an excuse to scour really fun and inspiring craft sites : )  Be sure to check it out, and recommend it to anyone you know who is planning a wedding!

Here are some of my favorite projects so far (click on the link and not the picture to visit).

Chalkboard picture frames by The Moody Fashionista

Cupcake Liner Pompoms from Design Sponge

Sewn Programs from Kojo Designs

Fabric chandelier from Whipperberry

Heart Luminaries from Sitting At Our Kitchen Table

(all pictures taken from their respective sites)

This is just some of the gorgeousness that resides out there in blogland.  Start exploring, and let us know what you find!!!

Also, be sure to scroll down to the bottom of our new design.  There are some options for you there, like an archive of posts, search bar, links to our twitter and facebook sites.  Also, you can subscribe or become a follower of this blog.

Now that the makeover is done, it's time to post some pictures!  We've got some great stuff coming up, so check back soon!  Thanks so much for stopping by, and enjoy!

Announcement: February Discounts! * Midwest Senior Photographer

Happy February everyone (and Happy Birthday to my little sister)!  I hope you have been enjoying your snowy winter, and that you are ready for this last month of the season.  I am almost always ready for a break from winter by the time February rolls around, and this year is no different.  Knowing sunshine and warmer temps are just around the corner gives hope in a long, cold, snowy Midwest winter, doesn't it?  With that in mind, it's time to reveal our 1000 Words Photography by Nicole Wilke discount for February!!!

Since Spring and Summer are just around the corner, it's time to start thinking about senior portraits for the class of 2012!  The class of 2011 will soon be graduated, juniors will become seniors, and it will be time to start thinking about graduation and open houses and senior pictures and everything that goes with that.

If you book your Senior Portrait session with us this month, you will receive 10% off your package fee and 20.12% off your print and product order!!!  Now, just to clarify, that does NOT mean we have to shoot your pics this month, just that you will book your session (for July or May or whatever month you choose) now.  Also, as it is early in the season, you will have a larger selection of dates and times, so if you have a busy schedule, I suggest you get on this!!!

To check out more discounts we are offering in 2011, visit our website here.
