Holly's Senior Pictures, Part 2 * Austin, MN Senior Photographer

Just in case you missed the first part of Holly's Senior Pictures, you can check them out here. I had such a wonderful time spending the morning with Holly. She has a unique and beautiful spirit, and is full of life! The first thing I ever remember her saying to me is that she is a leader, not a follower. I would definitely agree with that statement- she dares to be different. She wanted something unique for her senior portraits, so we visited the Albert Lea Humane Society and her uncle's acreage, two places I had never photographed before. There are a lot of shots I really like, so prepare yourself for a loooooooooooooong post.

Look at these cuties : D
We did part of the shoot at Holly's uncle's place, which was b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l!!! Just one of the many stunning flowers we had to choose from: I just think she is so pretty. Twirling in the enchanted forest. SUPER-HOLLY!!!!
Love, love, love this.

1000 Words Photography News * Midwest Photographer

Hi everyone! I hope you've been enjoying your summer and all the shoots we've been sharing with you! There is oh-so-much more to come soon, including seniors, family shoots, and another wedding, so be on the lookout. First, though, I wanted to give you some inside information. Effective August 15, 2010 the price of our family, baby, child, and maternity shoots goes from $59/hour to $75/hour (the rest of our rates stay the same). Considering the fact that digital negatives are included (meaning you don't have to buy expensive prints from me), this will still be a steal of a deal! All of these kind of sessions booked before August 15, 2010 (even if the session is to take place after August 15) will still be available for the super-low price of $59. So hurry and book your session today! Just email me at Hope to hear from you soon!

Of Grapes and Rain Puddles * Albert Lea, MN Family Photographer

I was beyond excited when Melissa asked me a couple of weeks ago to photograph her family. I have known them for quite some time, and know that they are a bright, fun-loving, and that she and her husband, Dave, genuinely love their kids. Julia and Evan are tons of fun- curious, confident, and adventurous, with plenty of expression! The day of the shoot started out with a migraine and thunderstorms, and I wasn't sure whether we were going to be able to complete our session as planned, but after a little anxiety, a short prayer, and a flexible attitude, we definitely made the most of it!!!

Here sits the family on the steps of the very pavillion where Dave and Melissa were married! How their beautiful family has grown since then...

Here is Evan, their little guy.

This is Julia, their little princess.

She sure loved twirling in front of the camera...

...and the camera loved her back!

Love this!

I wish everyone had a picture with their mother like this:

And this:

And these:

Love these shots!

These kids LOVE grapes! They snacked on them throughout the whole shoot : )

It rained on-and-off all afternoon, so we were a little disappointed about the lack of outdoor photo opportunities. However, the kids saved the day when they asked to splash in the puddles. As Dave said, this will likely always be referred to as Julia's "rain" dress : )

Memories to last forever. A picture is worth a thousand words...and sometimes a million.

Recently Josh and I had the opportunity to take some of our very favorite kids in the whole world to Como zoo. As we arrived, they (at 5 and 8) told us all about the butterfly exhibit, and were dying to go. After waiting a few minutes in line, we entered a miniature butterfly Eden. Thankfully I had my camera on hand...

This is on my leg. It sat there for so long that I had to have one of the attendants remove it, lest I would squish it against something.

Yeah, I know the last one doesn't have any butterflies in it, but I just think they are so stinking cute!
